I’ve been assigning reviews for the fall lately, and it promises to be a jam-packed literary season. Over at The Millions, they agree, and they’ve put together a solid preview of forthcoming books. They even reach into 2010 to snare Jonathan Franzen and Joshua Ferris in their net, among others.
Since I’ve been combing through publisher catalogs, I thought I’d offer just a few more notable titles that didn’t make the cut at The Millions:
Karen Armstrong’s The Case for God; new memoirs by Michael Chabon and Mary Karr; Cowboys Full, a history of poker by James McManus; Look at the Birdie, a collection of previously unpublished short fiction by the late, great Kurt Vonnegut; The Collected Stories of Lydia Davis; an oral history of The Simpsons; and Changing My Mind, a collection of nonfiction by Zadie Smith.
